“Allure Your Senses” Art Installation to Remain in Historic Downtown Fort Myers through May of 2017

FORT MYERS, Fla. (December 22, 2016) —  The monumental 23-piece iron sculpture exhibit by internationally-renowned artist Edgardo Carmona that has become a popular attraction on the streets of the Historic Downtown Fort Myers River District will remain in the area through May of 2017.  As a result of the city’s request to keep the monumental exhibit in historic downtown for as long as possible, JAXI, the firm responsible for bringing the popular installation to downtown, has worked with the artist to extend the duration of the exhibit.

As part of their commitment to the continued growth and success of downtown as a vibrant, culture-rich urban destination, JAXI, developers of ALLURE and the recently-announced ONE condominiums, brought the magnificent exhibit to downtown in January of 2016 through a private-public initiative and titled it “Allure Your Senses.” The artwork is positioned in various outdoor public spaces, predominantly along First Street and Hendry Street from City Hall to the riverfront.

“The Public Art Committee continues to witness the excitement by visitors to the River District as they experience the ‘Allure Your Senses’ exhibit within historic downtown Fort Myers,” says Jared Beck, Chair of the Fort Myers Public Art Committee. “Retaining this significant collection for another season will further enhance the arts within the River District and further enthusiasm for the value of public art.”

“Allure Your Senses” artist Carmona is from Colombia. He combines his work as a designer of machines and steel buildings with artistic sensitivity to create sculptures carved out of iron. He develops “characters that make Cartagena what it is” from multiple parts or structural elements, such as rods, tubes or pieces of steel. Each piece weighs anywhere from about 200 pounds to more than 1,000 pounds, and most are 7 to 10 feet tall. The exhibit in Fort Myers is the North American debut for this collection. Prior to that, it was on display in Paris.

ARTIST MARCUS JANSEN PARTNERS WITH ALLURE TO SHOWCASE PAINTINGS ON WALLS OF THE LUXURY CONDOMINIUM’S SALES GALLERY

FORT MYERS, FL – (August 19, 2016) – Internationally-recognized artist Marcus Jansen, known as a leading figure in socio politically charged paintings over the last two decades, has partnered with ALLURE, the new, luxury 32-story condominium to be developed on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River in the Historic Downtown Fort Myers River District to showcase his art on the walls of the recently-opened sales gallery.

Seven of Jansen’s masterpieces are on display in the beautiful ALLURE sales gallery, including Indian Reservoir, Guinea Pig, When the Wind Blows, and The Fisherman. The sales gallery, designed by Dwayne Bergmann, features a model of one of the elegant condominium residences with beautifully-designed vignettes of a kitchen, living room and dining room.

A celebratory event was held at the ALLURE sales gallery recently for the local community to showcase the artwork at ALLURE, celebrate the launch of the Marcus Jansen World Tour which kicked off in Italy this September, and to screen the new Marcus Jansen Documentary “Examine and Report.”

“I’m happy to celebrate the Museum world tour with Allure and the local community as Allure becomes more and more integrated into this community,” says Jansen. An American born painter, Jansen calls Downtown Fort Myers home. His 7,000 square foot UNIT A Studio and Residency houses his large and small works and archives exhibition information from over the last two decades.

Born in New York in 1968, Jansen has been called a pioneer in redefining urban landscape painting. He has also been called “a cartographer of conflict” while cleverly questioning authority master versus server or ruling class versus just the ruled. At the core of his work are human concerns, often mapping the impact of war on the urban environment and addressing topics such as excess surveillance and the military industrial complex. The magical feel of his paintings suggests these are nowhere spaces, but rather landscapes of loss.

Jansen’s paintings are a gestural mix of abstract expressionist landscape work, usually mixed with objective subject matters. His work is collected in the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, The New Britain Museum of Art and the Smithsonian Institution.” Marcus Jansen’s work is included in the U.S. Department of State, Art in Embassies Program, UNESCO in Paris France, listed in Who’s Who in American Art and his Museum collections include the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA), Russia, The New Britain Museum of American Art, The PERMM Museum of Contemporary Art, The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Art, Taiwan and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC.

The Jansen DECADE exhibition will be a part of the major XXI Triennale International Exhibition 2016, that takes place only once every 20 years, and brings a vast program of exhibitions, events, festivals and competitions to some of the most prestigious venues in Milan. Jansen’s exhibition will commence on September 3rd.

The documentary by John Scoular, “Examine and Report” is a film highlighting Jansen and featuring commentary by notorious art dealer Steve Lazarides and Robert Rauschenberg’s former longtime Art Production director/artist Lawrence Voytek and more. www.examineandreport.com

“DECADE” the book, showcases over 100 works of art by Marcus Jansen, eleven of which have been selected to show for the first time at the Triennale di Milano Museum, painted by the neoexpressionist painter and curated by Brooke Lynn McGowan Ph.D and Rossella Farinotti, in collaboration with Show Eventi Arte and Galleria Bianca Maria Rizzi & Matthias Ritter.
